Tonight's Dinner

Becuase I had a half-day of work today, I was able to come home and deal with all of the stuff that needed to be done here. For instance, my sitter called my office this morning to let me know that our front closet door had fallen and broken the piece of glass in our front door. This was not welcome news and had to be dealt with. In addition, there were many dishes needing to be done and a new tire appointment that needed to be kept. I am currently in between loads of dishes and thought I would post my dinner plans:

thin cut pork chops coated in cajun seasoning, pan fried in chardonnay
egg noodles, cooked in chicken broth, served with butter and oregano
green beans, steamed with a little bit of chicken broth and butter

I do believe that the whole family will be happy with this meal...as long as I do not make the pork too spicy. Princess will not be allowed to complain, as she has spent the afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese with 10 or so friends. TBell and I played two games of Lucky Ducks, 1 game of I Spy memory and 1 game of Angelia Ballerina. After this, we put together a Polly Pocket puzzle and did her shape puzzlers. I do believe she should also be sufficiently happy and not allowed to compain about anythign for the rest of the day. Pirate is miserable and will probably complain about anything!

Off to more coffee and dishes...

Finally, a Recipe.

Since I created this blog to share recipes, I thought I should actually do it. This is for a crockpot - the essential working-woman kitchen tool. I don't know what I would do without mine. I should note that there are so many cool new crockpots available, you can really get one to suit any of your needs. Ideally, I would like to have one for just my family and a larger one to use for entertaining. Right now, I am using an orange/black one with a broken handle (a hand-me-down from dear mother-in-law).

1 pork roast, cut in half
1 bottle or can of beer, any type (I used a Molson with the vanity label)
1 cup chicken broth (any type of broth would probably work)
3T minced garlic
2T oregano

Combine above and simmer on low setting in crockpot for 8 hours.

This is absolutely delicious! I served it with rice and broccoli.

Holidays

This is TBell, Princess and Pirate. The picture was supposed to be used for our Christmas cards; I never got around to making or sending said cards. Oh well, life goes on. Now that I have posted the picture, people can go online to get their holiday greetings from me!

Dismay

It was brought to my attention that I neglected to mention a very important person in my cast of characters. I would be remiss, however, if I mention one without the other. So, here are more characters in my life:

MJWW - sister
Brainiac - husband of above sister (I stole his name from her blog)
MJWD - other sister
OtherD - husband of other sister

I do believe that should make all people happy; I do not want to lose sleep over sad/angry family members!

In the Beginning...

My sister has encouraged me to create my own blog, so here it is. I will endeavor to entertain with my stories; but, more importantly, I will include great recipes that I have found...things that I have tried on my own and things that I want to try. My life revolves mostly around food, although I am not preofessionaly invovled with it nor do I have experience with it other than personal. However, I do cook and eat quite a bit and will share my expereinces with you.

The cast of characters (at least those that I can think of at the moment) are as follows:

Paco - my loving husband
Princess - oldest daguther (almost 6)
TBell - second daughter (almost 4)
Pirate - son (2)

Stay tuned for recipes and fun!
